New York, New York - September 9th, 2009 - "Frisell's sound swells and breathes like a saxophonists," (allmusic.com) but it does
even more than that. It walks, it talks, and it aches for a family and a home. Frisell brings his well renowned niche of quality
sound and creative combinations to a daring project called Disfarmer. But what is Disfarmer? It's more a question of who than what
as Disfarmer is actually the name of Great Depression and pre WWII Arkansas photographer Mike Disfarmer. Born Michael Meyers, he
rejected his family, when he learned that "meyer" meant farmer in German, the choice of Disfarmer seemed best to suit his stance
against his upbringing.

When Frisell learned of the photographs, he created a multimedia tour to feature the creativity of the artist. Frisell uses his
Americana folk jazz and rock combinations to take on the unique challenges of creating "the sound of him looking through the lens,"
as Frisell describes it.

His latest album, Disfarmer, has been completely dedicated to amplifying the works of this photographer. He now brings old favorites
and his latest project to City Winery.
